The Cross

Thought for the day:

Truth: We're all broken and messed up and because if this we are separated from God who is not broken and messed up.
Jesus is perfect, he committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth (1Pete 2:22)  yet he became sin for us. In his death he absorbed the wrath of God that you and I deserved.

If God where not just there would be no demand for Jesus to die… he would just let us all off the hook, we could live as we please and he would let us all into heaven. That would be nice. But God isn't nice... He is just and loving.

If God did not love us there would be no willingness for his son to suffer and die. But God is both just and loving. Therefore his love is willing to meet the demands of his justice.

And so God sends his own son to absorb his wrath and bear the punishment we deserve.

Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.

Rom 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I'm writing this 6am on Monday. My favourite day of the week and our first opportunity to live out the lessons of yesterday's Church experiences...

Rom 6 1-2 MSG
So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If we’ve left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? Or didn’t you realize we packed up and left there for good?

Hugs
